Not Seeking Versus Not Finding

“Not seeking, not expecting, she is present, and can welcome all things.”

Lao Tzu

If you are on the spiritual path, you probably have this dilemma. How will you realize the ultimate? Is it by seeking, or is it by not seeking?

The more you search for the ultimate, the more you go away from it.

This is the fact.

What I’ve just stated above is something every spiritual seeker must realize for themselves. However, this is not an easy thing to do. It is not easy to take this fact on face value. The whole spiritual journey and its stages can be correlated using this fact.

So, the more you agree with this statement, the more advanced stage of spiritual journey you’re in. The less you agree the more novice you are. It is very important to understand the concept of ‘Not Seeking’ and its relation to the spiritual journey. Let us look at it in more detail.

When The Spiritual Journey Begins

If you’ve begun wondering about life and death and its meaning, you’re probably starting to just tread slowly on your spiritual journey.

It is quite interesting in this regard to know about the story of Buddha. See this video by Sadhguru

How Buddha’s journey began is a typical example of the start of a spiritual voyage.

The Buddha struggled just like the rest of us on the spiritual journey. When he began wondering about the meaning of life and death and where he came from, he initiated a great revolution in him.

So, this is the beginning when you want to find WHO YOU ARE?

In this stage, you’ll probably not understand nor believe the statement that the more you search, the more you’ll sway away from the ultimate.

So you seek. And seek and seek…………………………………………………….

And this seeking leads you to the next stage……… (Isn’t it wonderful? 🙂 )

Sometimes you feel that you don’t fit into this world. You can’t go back to your mundane activities. Neither can you say that you have gained awakening nor that you’re not interested in it. You are Just in the middle.

You will continue to seek further. Not because you are interested in seeking but because a habit has formed in you. This is edging you towards seeking. Something inside you says, “Move on just a little bit and there you will find what you’re looking for”.

However, this will only tire you. In this stage it is very important that you get tired out completely.

Seeking will only take you away from the divine. AND NOW YOU DISCOVER ANOTHER FACT:

The ultimate has never been apart from you. It cannot leave you. It is your very core. Just due to your ignorance you ‘feel’, you have gone away from it… TOO FAR.

At this stage you realize that seeking is useless.

If you are reading this article and you are now on this line, You are definitely NOT FINDING what you’re looking for.

Spiritual Awakening is not about NOT SEEKING. It is about NOT FINDING.

If you find it, you have NOT FOUND it. Are you able to see what I am saying?

There is nothing to find. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO FIND. And interestingly therefore, there’s nothing to seek. If you understand what I mean, then I bow to you!
